We missed our way

I am lost

Last week I went with my husband to visit Sandra a family friend who  gave birth recently.  Before we embarked on our journey, my husband collected Sandra’s address.  We planned in advance, by mapping out the address online however the details was not printed.  According to the map it was just five minutes walk from the Eden Park Station which she confirmed.    Proverbs 16:9 states that a man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. You can plan as much as you want but Lord directs the steps of the righteous one.  In other words, man proposes but God disposes.

We  took the train to Eden Park Station, followed the exit to leave the station.  Here I was so confident with the map on my phone, checked the map and followed its direction.  We spent over 20minutes searching for Sandra’s address, after a long search walking around the area looking for her address, we realised that we missed our way. We decided to call her for redirection to her house and she gave us a Landmark to find the place.  This reminded of  my walk with the Lord.  When it felt like I had missed His direction or taken the wrong route.  As a result of  my disobedience, blindness to see situations from His perspectives and deafness to hear His true voice, it would take me longer to retrace my steps.  Have you missed your  way in your walk with the Lord ? Are you lost and you don’t know how to retrace your step? The Lord is calling you to retrace your steps from the point where you missed it and He is waiting for you right there.  It can be frustrating to take a reverse turn and time wasting like the children of Israel who spent forty years in wilderness for a journey of less than twelve days.

My story continues, our journey commenced once again determined to get to  the address.  We asked people around who told us to go back to Eden Park Station and its on the other side of the road.  We became frustrated and tired then called Sandra  again, who then met us at Eden Park Station and took us through the right pathway.  To our greatest surprise there were two exits,  north and south, our confusion resulted from passing through the south exit instead of the north.  It took less than five minutes to get to  Sandra’s home.  So disappointed we were to have spent so long a time  going in the wrong direction.

Sometimes in life, simple mistakes are made which  can be extremely expensive.  There are consequences for every mistakes made like in this case we took the wrong route. But the Lord is there to correct your mistakes and put you in the right path.  My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights Proverbs 3:11-12.   Because He is our Heavenly Father and we are His little children, when we go in the wrong direction, He is always there to correct, guide and lead us in the path of righteousness. But the question is? Are you ready to listen to God when He instructs you come back, do a detour and start afresh? You could be so engrossed in the complaints of why it should happen His way.  His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts  (Isaiah 55:8-9).  When you plan your life’s journey, put  Him in the picture so He can direct your path every step of the way.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths Proverbs 3:5-6.  You walk with Him, step by step everyday of your life and He will always be there.
