Taste and believe

By Ngozi Ngadi

The Word of God states that taste and see that the He is good (Psalm 34:8).  What if you could not see or taste it, would you still believe that the God is good?  That question has been on my mind for a while. What are your thoughts towards that? When situations arises and His promised words has still not come to full manifestation do you still believe that God is a good and loving Father?

I know what it feels like when God says ‘I have spoken and established My word and it must surely come to pass.  But something keeps holding or restricting the execution of the word that has been prophesied, affirmed and reaffirmed.  You must be wondering did God lie to you or did you get duped by Him?

There is an adage that says ‘Seeing is believing’.  Our eyes are meant  to see the great, beautiful, wonderful and mighty things that God has in store for us (Jeremiah 33:3).  I do agree that seeing is believing because when you see your eyes sends signals to your mind that this is true. It becomes real for your eyes has now seen the beauty of His promised works.

When you taste and see, you taste and believe that God is a faithful God and He will never leave you nor forsake you.  One day I went to the stores to buy some groceries. They were promoting a new brand of biscuits, a table was set and the biscuits nicely arranged and presented on the table.  First my eyes caught my attention to the biscuits on the table, simultaneously signals were sent to my brain of how sweet and delicious those biscuits would be only if I could just taste a little bit of it.  I began to imagine the sweetness of every crumbs in my mouth.  My next step was to go and taste it to believe that it is the best brand that I have ever tasted. I tasted it and it was up to my expectation, just as I thought it would be.

At that moment God spoke to me and said, the same way you have tasted those biscuits, He wants me to taste and and believe His sweetness to know that He is a good and faithful Father who will never fail me.  Do not wait until you have received the blessings, promises before you can taste and see that He is a good God and His love endures forever.  Start now to taste and believe by faith.

Everyone on this planet have their individual fears.  It could range from the fear of heights, fear of snakes, fear of crowds and so on.  I must confess that one of my fears is the FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.  It has been a challenging journey for me as I work with the Holy Spirit, my helper and Counselor who helps me overcome the fear of the unknown.  Today I would like to share with some of the ways I dealt with the giant in my life.

The fear of the unknown is the giant in your life that intimidates, frightens, causes tremendous distress, pains, making your life a miserable living hell to hinder, restrict, keep you in bondage from fulfilling purpose and prospering in all your accomplishments.

I am still on the journey of remaining in His perfect love, for perfect love cast out all fears.  God’s love is perfect and complete in Christ Jesus.  His love is divine and pure, He has no atom of fear in Him.

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgement] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love]. 1 John 4:18 amp

HOW TO OVERCOME  FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

HAVE A CLEAR SOUND MIND

When you have projects you have never done before or embarking on a new journey, the worries of what ifs, what not, what then keeps ringing in your mind. Your mind gets so clouded by constant analysis that leads to mental paralysis, eventually you get overburdened with the stress of sorting it all out.   Believe in yourself , think positive for God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)  He knows you can do it, He believes in you and that is all that should matter to you even when no one believes in you.  BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.  Find a quiet place to clear your mind, in quietness and trust of who you are in  Christ, invite the Holy Spirit and tune in to receive from Him.  The words you receive in a place of rest and quietness are resurrecting life that stirs your heart to step out and walk by faith not by sight.

DO IT AFRAID

When you have clarity on where you are going, what you want to do, how to do it.  Then what is hindering you, cast out the spirit of fear and release the spirit of God’s love.  Just do it, act fearlessly, stepping out of your comfort zone to accomplish the assignments that needs to be executed.

Waiting for something in high expectations is one of the most difficult moments in ones life when you feel so tired, drained and helpless.   It gets to the point when you keep asking “when God when?”,  “When would you hear my cry? Is it today, tomorrow, next year or five years from now?”

We are living in a world where the society does not understand the essence of waiting on God.  Everything is processed swiftly and speedily, think about it….  You place your food is the microwave in less than two minutes it is warm enough, the internet is more than hundred times faster than ten years ago, the computers processors processes data faster than before, transactions are processed speedily online to the extent that you don’t need a human being any more to speak to over the counter.

The question is have you waited so long on God for the manifestation of His promises and it seems like its taking ages to come to pass?  I must confess that I have waited so long.  But I know my wait is not in vain.

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

I have been waiting on the Lord for the secret petition of my heart for over nine years and it seems like my waiting would never end.  I have decided to change my attitude to waiting on the Lord, I have decided to wait in joy, peace and a sound settled mind knowing in all awareness that the Lord almighty is seriously on my case and He will not rest until the manifestation of His promises comes to pass.

My strength is renewed moment by moment, day in day out, spending time in His presence studying His Word, I cling to Him for trust, wisdom and direction so I will not grow weary, loose focus or faint on the journey ahead.  I might have waited so long but I know that my wait would surely reap rewards of harvest.

Yes I have waited so long, yes I am still waiting but no I not tired of waiting because my wait is not in vain.  Our God is a perfect God and when He starts something He would surely finish it.  The end of a thing is better than its beginning Ecclesiastes 7:8a.  He is the Alpha and Omega, He is a just and righteous God.  He has a perfect package that is being processed waiting for you.  He has not forgotten you because He knows your name.  It might have been so long and you are the point of loosing hope.  You might have waited so long and persevering in waiting on God as I am, don’t give up.  He has a better plan and purpose and allow Him to work through you so that His works would be perfect for your life to be a testimony and His name to be glorified

My declaration for you today is where you have sown in tears, pains and sadness, you shall reap in joy, peace and the fullness of all that He has in store for you.  The time of favour is now , not tomorrow but now.  The kairos time of breakthrough is now and I decree that you shall not miss it and you shall embrace it.  It is time to change your attitude from bitterness and anger to longsuffering and peace, from despair to high hopes and faithfulness in Jesus Name.
