I thought about what to blog on and I reflected immensely on how the ups and downs of life challenges could hinder us from walking into the fullness of all that He has in store for us.  It all starts with our thought process.  The enemy has no access whatsoever to what you are thinking about until you speak out then strategies are devised to counteract His purpose driven plans.  This is the power of the mind.  That is where the battlefield lies.

Satan is very deceptive and manipulative in his ways therefore would try to plant destructive, suicidal, confusing thoughts by making you presume they are your own human thinking.  When you act on those processed thoughts that has been planted as a seed by him then you have given the enemy the upper hand.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. Proverbs 23:7

I have grown to discover and utilise my mindset in Christ as a weapon of attack.  As I matured in my spiritual walk with the Lord I understood the tactics of the enemy was based on intelligent data information collection.  They work as agents of lies, deception, who come to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10, John 8:44, 2 Corinthians 11:14, Revelation 12:9 ).  Ungodly, demonic, toxic thoughts could be sown into your mindset depending on the challenges you experience.  You have two choices either to feed those thoughts and permit your pains or trials overcome you or cast them out authoritatively in the name of Jesus then feed your mind with the truth which is the  Word of God.

What you feed you mind with based on your five spiritual senses (see, hear, smell, tasted and feel ) determines your consequent reaction (Hebrews 5:14).    With your eyes you see visualising the hope of tomorrow; with your ears you hear the Word and mature in faith; with your mind you know for you have the mind of Christ and the heart of the Father; with your heart you believe without a doubt for the manifestation of His promises ( Hebrews 11:1, Romans 10:17, 1 Corinthians 2:16, Romans 10:10 )

It is important to think before you speak because once spoken it cannot be retrieved, the spoken word is sent forth to accomplish that which you assigned it to do.  Ask the Holy Spirit to set a watch on your mouth and watch the door of your lips (Psalm 141:3).

The power of the mind is a weapon of attack that the enemy tries to penetrate in other to oppress, obsess, depress, suppress and possess you.  The battle starts with the mind and ends with the mind in a place of prayer and deeper intimacy with the Lord

Consequently, watch out for part two of the power of the mind, that emphaises more on the steps to overcoming the enemy using the mind as a weapon of attack.  This is discovered in the Word of God from 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.  I pray that the Lord renews your mind, giving you a new mindset continually on a daily basis to stand firm in every trials and test of life.  Amen

There is so much to think and worry about that leads to excessive processing of information for the best quickest solution.  You think about how you are going to pay your bills, monthly mortgage payments, put food on the table, pay  the children school fees or even yours.  As the day passes by pay the worries escalates, your mind continues to process, analyse till it reaches a point of total confusion and mental depression.  The mind is the battlefield to overcoming every trials and tribulation that the enemy throws at you.

My thoughts during my youth were thoughts of rejection, unforgiveness, bitterness, sadness, hopelessness, helplessness, pains, hurts and so on that lead to depression.  I allowed my past to control my future and would not let go of the past.  I did not have a strong relationship with the Lord and did not know where to start.  My mind was full of confusion, frustration and was close to mental breakdown.

Until I encountered Him in whole new dimension that changed my life for the best.  I began to hunger and thirst for the spiritual food and cleansed my mind through the precious blood of Jesus from every toxic thoughts that oppressed and depressed me.

My thoughts pattern changed from negative to positive, despair to hope, sadness to joy, confusion to sound mind, fear to faith and pains to perfect healing in Christ Jesus.  For as he thinks in his heart, so is he Proverbs 23:7a.  What are you thinking of that God can’t handle?  It all starts with the mind, the mind is the battlefield.

It is time to take control of your mindset not giving the devil an inch of space any more.  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2   It is a process that requires change, change in the way you think, act and react.  This is a spiritual warfare not of the flesh therefore do not set your mind on the physical but the spiritual, meditating on the Word day and night , eat, drink and sleep the Word until it becomes a part of you (Romans 8, Joshua 1:8, 2 Corinthians 5:7).

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

The Word of God is a powerful weapon used to destroy every stronghold, cast down every thoughts that are not in alignment with what the Word says over your life or any circumstance that you facing, bringing them down under submission to the obedience of Christ.  It is time to confess His Word over your life, marriage, that situation that never seems to go away. When you confess with your mouth believe with your heart and so shall it be according to His promises (Romans 10:10, Job 22:28)

Would you start now to make a change?  Change your thought patterns, let the Holy Spirit lead you, fill your heart till it overflows and gradually you shall see your life transformed for the best.  Don’t you give up, do not let circumstances or the challenging storms of life frustrate you to the point of hopelessness and helplessness.  It all starts with the mind, the mind is the battlefield.  Take that big step of faith and trust God to see you through it all.

New You

Every morning you take off your old dirty clothes, have a shower, brush your teeth then rub cream, put on new clothe in preparation for the new day.    You look brand new, fresh and radiating on the outside.  How about your inside?  What have you done to maintain your inner being?.  The spirit and soul needs to be renewed, refreshed, revived and restored on a regular basis.  Take off the old you (spirit and soul) and put on the new you.

When I was not yet in Christ, lead by the things of the world and did not know the Lord intimately, on the outside I looked happy, full of life and satisfied but on the inside, my spirit was dead, looked old, dirty and messed up .   The things I did, my ways were full of hatred, revenge, anger, envy and much more.   That was the old me but now that i have found Christ and a new creation in Him, I have put on the new me.   It is time for you to put on the new you.

The new you is your identity in Christ Jesus who was crucified on the cross for our sake that you can become a new creation in Christ Jesus.  When Jesus died on the cross, a divine exchange took death for life, sickness for wholeness, bondage for freedom took place.  Your name is changed from rejection to acceptance of His love and favour.  You are created in His image and likeness and with His DNA flowing through you therefore you have the authority to walk in the boldness, cinfidence and dominion of who you are in Him

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:16-19

You have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ that sets you free from all power of darkness, sickness, pains, brokenness and bondage.  He reconciled you back to Himself, all your sins are forgiven and wiped clean off His records.  The process of taking off the old an putting on the new is a consistent regular process that should not be taken for granted.  As you spend time meditating on the Word, your spirit is ignited and soul renewed as well as revived through the power and help of the Holy Spirit.  Your fellowship with like minded Christians encourages you to understand that no matter the circumstances you are not alone on the journey.

This is a lifetime journey that remolds to become a spirit filled vibrant, life transformed person whose light would shine for the whole world to see and know that Jesus is Lord.  Make your light shine in radiation so that darkness cannot prevail.   If you are struggling on this journey of putting on the new you ask the Holy Spirit our comforter, helper, counsellor, standby, strengthener and advocate to walk with you on this life changing journey.

I pray that as you spend time in His presence you will find Him and you will discover more of Christ in you the hope of glory.  May you grow and develop in Him so that you live a productive life in abundance of His love.

Renew your mind

By Ngozi Ngadi

When trials comes your way and you don’t know what to do, your mind becomes so busy trying to figure a solution to the problem.  The mind works overtime burning more calories that you can ever imagine.  Although I might not be in the medical profession, I assume that when you mind is pressured with so many thoughts, you burn more calories.  When this happens depression steps in gradually and your physical well being becomes affected.  The mind is the battlefield to unlock your breakthrough to victory and prosperity.  Renew your mind to the ways and things of God. Change the negative thoughts of frustration, confusion and disbelief to meditating on the word, God’s ways and thoughts.   Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God,even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you] Romans 12:2 amp.  His plans and  purpose in your lives is full of promises and abundance of His love.

So how do you renew your mind to be in  alignment with His word, will and purpose.  I have faced challenges and been in situations that tried to mess up my mind and make me think that I am worthless, unloved and a loser.  At some point it tried to suppress me till I could not stand anymore.  But thank God I am a living testimony that I am walking with the Lord as He directs my path and my mind is completely renewed to His ways, will and purpose.  The devil might try some stupid tactics but I am more than a step ahead of him because I humbly submitted myself to God.  Here are seven key ways to renewing  your mind and this has helped me tremendously:

  1. MEDITATE ON THE WORD:  Study the bible and meditate on the word until it becomes a part of you.  Let His words be solidly rooted in your heart (Psalm 119:105, Hebrews 4:12, Joshua 1:8)
  2. CAST DOWN EVERY THOUGHTS THAT EXALTS ITSELF AGAINST THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD: Taking authority over every word that is not in alignment with His words and promises over your life, rendering them powerless in obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
  3. CONFESS HIS WORDS DAILY:  Confess with your mouth what His words says over every situation.  Decree and declare what be not as though they were.  Speaking to yourself encourages your spirit especially during challenging times (Proverbs 18:21, Romans 4:17, Romans 10:9-10, Jeremiah 1:9-10).
  4. ASSOCIATE WITH LIKE MINDED CHRISTIANS:  Surround yourself around people who would always be there to encourage you, share the word and fellowship with you.  Find at least two prayer partners that you can pray with and stand in agreement with you (Matthew 18:20, 1 John 1:6-7).
  5. PRAY:  Be in constant communion with the Lord, seek His heart in all that you do.  Seek Him daily, open your heart to Him and permit Him to deal with every issue that seems to be a stumbling block or stronghold.  Be willing to receive and hear from Him
  6. PRAISE AND WORSHIP HIM: The key to your breakthrough is in your praises and worship that proceeds from your mouth.  Praise Him with your whole heart, spirit, body and soul.  Reverence God in submission and obedience. (Psalm 100:4, Psalm 149, Genesis 22:1-13)
  7. STAND IN TRIUMPHANT VICTORY: When you have done it all STAND and do not give up on God.  Stand in triumphant victory for Christ has paid it all on the cross.  Therefore there is no cause for you to suffer anymore. A divine exchange took place when He was crucified on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:56-58, Galatians 3:13-14).  KEEP STANDING and DO NOT GIVE ON GOD.
Renewing your mind is a process of change so it does not happen in a day.  You might feel so down now and you do not where to start.  I would say to you,  start by seeking His face and pray for strength.  Make a fresh start, take it one day at a time with Jesus.  Spend time in His presence, studying the word because in His presence there is fullness of joy, peace and a sound mind.  Let your life be a living testimony that the world will know that His goodness and mercies endures forever.
