In the past years I have been a victim of my spoken words.  I have spoken negative, depressive, hopeless, destructive and deadly words based on my life experiences.  The amount of times I cursed, condemned someone or used profane languages was countless.  A lot of changes to my spoken words has gradually taken effect because of my relationship with the Lord.  So I thought about writing a post on power in your spoken words and its impact on how it can turn circumstances around from death to life, brokenness to complete restoration, curses to blessings, barrenness to fruitfulness and so on.

The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit Proverbs 15:4 NIV.

The authority and power you have in your words is very effective in your daily life.   Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit Proverbs 18:21 NKJV.   Your spoken words births forth whatever you send it out to speak.  You offspring of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil (wicked)? For out of the fullness (the overflow, the super abundance) of the heart the mouth speaks Matthew 12:34 Amp. Whatever you have filled your mind with, whatever you spend your time doing or learning, the fullness or abundance of your heart is what comes out of your mouth. Imagine if your heart was a storehouse, what would it be filled up with?   Are you solidly rooted in the word of God and what it says over every situation?

Renew your mind to the things of God, fill your heart with words of joy, peace, encouragement, life and truth for faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17).  Studying the word until it becomes a part of you in readiness to bring life back into any circumstances.      The Lord has given us authority to call forth that which be not as though they were (Romans 4:17).

Here are five points on how your spoken words impacts lives:

  1. Permits: Your spoken words gives authorisation for that which you said to happen.  The Lord has given you authority on this earth to bind and loose, whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatever you break loose on earth is loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18).  You have a divine access to decree and declare with the authority already invested in you through Christ Jesus.    Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth! 10 Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms.  Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow.  Others you must build up and plant” Jeremiah 1:9-10 NLT
  2. Produces: The words you speak is like seed sent forth to yield fruit.  When a seed is sown into the ground it yields fruit, either good or bad fruit. Your spoken words produces life or death.  When you sow joy, peace, meekness and other fruits of the spirits it produces life in the spirit as sons and daughters of the Most high God who has an inheritance in His kingdom.  A good fruit cannot bear bad fruit neither can a bad fruit bear good fruit ( Matthew 7:18).  The words sown in your heart when spoken produces life or death in any challenges that you experience.
  3. Positions: It places you in a place to receive everything the Lord has in store for you.  As you keep confessing with your mouth the blessings, covenant of God, the Lord sets you in the right place of abundance of His love, grace and faithfulness.  Your spoken words authoritatively stands and keeps you in a position to receive all that He has in store for you according to His will, purpose and desire.  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful Hebrews 10:23 NKJV.
  4. Activates: Your words causes something to happen, it creates an activation in the spirit realm that causes a manifestation to occur in the physical.   The Lord sent forth His word to produce life and accomplished all its works according to His will and desires.  So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it Isaiah 55:11 NKJV.
  5. Reacts: When challenges comes your way, the manner you react to the challenge you are facing at that point  determines the results of your action.  When someone tries to get on your nerves and speaks discouraging words to you, how you deal with the situation determines the cause of action.  Sometimes its best to keep silent or when you do speak select carefully your words.  Your spoken words could help dissolve matters or silence helps control the diffusion of the matters.  Take control of what I say, O Lord,     and guard my lips Psalm 141:3 NLT.  Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires James 1:19-20 NLT.

If you are in a difficult situation with loss of hope, frustration and you have spoken words of discouragement, disappointment that has kept you in a worse predicament.  Now is the time to change the words you speak and start trusting God at His word and promises over your life. By Activating what the word of God declares over the situation and standing solidly rooted in His word.  Shut every access for the enemy to step into your life and cause more havoc and permit the Lord to bring healing, restoration, breakthroughs and abundance of His grace.  The little steps of faith you take would make a massive impact over your life.

Waiting on God can be so be so challenging especially when you have been seeking Him for an answered prayer in a very long time.  You might be at a point of waiting on God and you have waited in high expectations, waited in anticipation but it seems like the waiting period is in vain and your high expectations are turned to disappointments.

You must have prayed consistently, fervently over a period of time and you feel like God has turned deaf ears to your prayers.  You pay your tithe, you serve in the house of God, you are a cheerful giver, you are God’s obedient servant and friend so what holding Him back from granting your hearts desires.  It has gotten to the point of giving up, frustration and all hopes is lost.

God’s appointed time is different from ours but most assuredly He always turns up on time.  Has God ever failed or forsaken you?  We are His little children and He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us.  He is always right on time but the issues  we experience are the pains and process of waiting on God.

You might have mapped out your life in such a structured organised way without consulting the most High God but it seems it’s not working out as you planned it.  No eyes has seen, no ear has heard what God has in store for those that love Him, only if He reveals to us through His spirit   1 Corinthians 2:9-11.  He is always far ahead of us making the path smooth.  So don’t get upset when your plans does not work out as planned.

“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. Psalm 39:7 NKJV

What do you wait for?  Are you limiting yourself because you cant see or hear or don’t  know what He  has in store for you?  At some point in my life, I have asked  myself the same question of what exactly I am waiting for.  In desperation we settle for less when God desires for us so much more than we could ever imagine.  In some instances I have settled for less due to my weaknesses of self control and  patience.

Moreover compared myself with my mates who have what I have been waiting for and tried to force the hands of God.  During this period, I realised that He is pruning me to bring out the best in me in times of trials, teaching me how to be more patient and self controlling (Romans 5:3-5, John 15:1-5).

One thing I have learnt is not to compare myself with others, because I am uniquely created in God’s image so His plans and ways for me is different from my counterparts.   Wait on God, wait in high expectations, wait with the right heart and mind, wait and trust in God.  Do not limit God because He is a God of more than enough.  He hands are not too short that He cant reach out to you.  Ask Him in faith, specifically what you want or desire and believe that He has done it 1 John 5:14.

The process of asking from God your desires, expectation and receiving it can be a very long tiring one.  Therefore always be full of joy, meditating on the word of God.

Commit everything you do to the Lord.  Trust him, and he will help you. 6 He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.  7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.  Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes Psalm 37:5-7 NLT.

Spend time dwelling  in His presence, seek Him in everything you do.  Wait patiently for God like a farmer waits for His crops to harvest.  Always pray with consistency and ask Him for wisdom and understanding in everything you do.

Dear brothers and sisters,[a] be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. 8 You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near James 5:7-8 NLT.

It’s definitely not  easy waiting on God but when you wait with the right attitude of joy, praising Him at all times, renewing your mind on the word and things of God then He come through for you in such a beautiful and marvelous way that your friends and loved ones will be amazed at His wonderful acts.  There is a reward for those that wait on the Lord so expect your divine visitation from God.  Those that wait patiently and hope in the Lord shall inherit the earth  (Psalm 37:9 amp).

I woke up this morning seeking His face, so drawn into His presence, I share my thoughts with you.
My prayer is that after spending your precious time reading this, you will be stirred up in your hearts to move deeper, stepping up the ladder in spending quality time in His presence.

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Psalm 42:7 kJV

I am so drawn to into His presence

Where my heart is entwined with Yours

My spirit becomes united with Your spirit
Heart to heart, spirit to spirit
United as one

What fullness of joy there is in His presence
In His presence is where I am complete
Saturate me more in His presence
In His presence is where I am so overwhelmed
Filled with Your fragrance of love
Mesmerized by Your love
Filled with the freshness of Your ever present  peace

Oh how I long to run to into His presence
Where I feel safe and secured
I am at a place of rest in His presence
Where my worries is taken care of by my Daddy
And I don’t need to analyze my cares till I paralyze
I am comforted by your words of assurance
Yes it is finished, stamped  and sealed in the blood of Jesus.

In His Presence
