Tag: Find rest

So much has happened this year both personally and in the nations all over the world.  There has been relentless restlessness of the ISIS war, Israel and Gaza conflict,  financial crisis, Malaysia Airline plane crash and another sudden disappearance.  I don’t know about you but I have experienced so much resistance that has tried to hinder me from fulfilling His will over my life.  There has been persistent challenging circumstances that at some point distracted from God’s utmost agenda.

Enter My rest event is a time of rest, time of reflection, time to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).  We shall be seeking Him in total quietness and confidence, waiting on Him to pour out His love, abundant grace and mercy on us (Isaiah 30:15)

It is essential to dedicated a quiet time out to enter His rest, not just physical but spiritual rest in spirit and truth. In the past years I have written  two post on Rest, chillaxing in His presence, Place of rest and Place of rest 2.  I believe it is time to join us in taking a quiet time out to seek His face in quietness and trust.

So why don’t you register online to book your space and come and experience His presence, developing a deeper level of intimacy with the Lord.

When challenges tries to weigh you down or you are  being overwhelmed by  problems at work, in your marriage or  financial difficulties.  You have tried every tricks in the book but nothing ever seems to work out rather it gets worse.  You have various choices either to forget there is God and accept it as a norm or take a stand not giving up regardless of what you are passing through and remain faithful to the Lord God till the end.  For the best is yet to come and this is only temporary, for it is not over until the Lord says so.  You know what, you can overcome them all

When you experience challenges or hurdles in life, He is there to walk with you through the fire and you will not get burnt, when you pass through the waters it shall not overflow you and He is with you always (Isaiah 43:2).  The fact is you will experience problems that could range from your inability to pay your bills, rent to worse scenarios of facing eviction, repossession of your property, terminal illness and so on.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it 1 Corinthian 10:13

But how you deal with them all knowing that God would not allow you to pass through trials or temptations that would be too much for you to handle.  He knows your limitations and knows that you can overcome them all, from the little day to day problems to the worse discouraging frustrating problems.

He is faithful to see you through it all.  Don’t ever give up on God because He won’t give up on you.  He is able and willing to deliver and see you through your traumatic depressing pains of the present, past and future circumstances.  He wants you to walk with Him and He would work it out, for His yoke is easy and His burdens are light.  Take His yoke and find rest in Him

Whatever you are going through is only temporary and it all shall be over very soon.  You are an overcomer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  When it feels like you are about to have a pity party; why me, when God when, this is not fair, why do You hate me so much, I can’t move on any longer, I tired of waiting, why don’t I just die or kill myself because this is too much and much more.

Take your authority in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit, begin to decree and declare , for God has given you power and authority to pull down and destroy everything that is not of God, build and establish His word and promises over your life as it is in heaven.  Whatever you bind in your environment, life  is bound in heaven, whatever you break loose in your environment, life is  loosed in heaven.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you Luke 10:19

“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven Matthew 18:18

Father I pray that You come and give Your children perfect peace, soundness of mind and love.  Bring them to the place of understanding who you are in their lives so they can begin to decree and declare a thing and it shall be established, bind and loose as it is in heaven, open and shut doors with your power and authority as Royalties, Chosen Ones, and Royal Priesthoods in You.  Heal their broken hearts, give them Your yoke for it is easy to carry and bring them to a place of rest and restoration.  Whatever they have lost may they pursue and recover all in abundance in Jesus Name Amen.

Be still

By Ngozi Ngadi

In this day and age when people are so busy with work, family and friends, busy with life in general.  It is so hard to take time out to spend in His presence, time for reflection, time to just pause and think about His love.  Divert all focus from ‘all about me’ to ‘all about You Jesus’.  Your mind becomes so juggled up with different thoughts, plans and pursuits, you are emotionally distressed, disheartened and life’s challenges are weighing you down that you become so overburdened with the day to day life problems or issues.  In the midst of it all, the Lord is saying BE STILL, just two words BE STILL.  Is it possible to be still in the midst of all the confusion surrounding you?  Can your mind, will and emotions take a break away from the issues of life?  For a season can you take a step back without worrying and processing the next move forward?

Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God Psalm 46:10a  amp

Be still and acknowledge that He is God, He is your refuge and strength, and very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).  When that difficult challenge tries to swallow and crush you, do not be moved, do not fear for the Lord your God is with you.  He has never left you nor forsaken  you.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  References will be made to the song Still (I will be still) by Juanita Bynum throughout this post: When the ocean rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm. Father you are king over the flood.  What’s that problem that you feel God can’t handle? What’s the situation that is giving you sleepless nights? Why do you keep trying to figure it out and in the process depression and confusion creeps in?  Have you constantly been on the move without waiting on God?

It is time to be still, come to a place of stillness and quietness, a place of rest and intimacy with the Lord.  No more running around trying to figure it out in order to know the whys, what and all the answers to every questions.  The process of excessive analysis results to psychological paralysis (my term for depression, mental instability).  The Lord desires, He longs for you to stop for one moment, the moment could be short or long.  At this position of being still, He wants you to keep your eyes fixed on Him not on the situation.  Speak to your soul to find rest, Juanita Bynum sings: Find rest my soul in Christ alone.  Know His power in quietness and trust.  Enter into a place of rest with the Lord, because in the place of rest is where restoration, healing and soundness of mind occurs (Psalm 23:2-3, Psalm 147:3, 2 Timothy 1:7).

Being in a place of stillness and quietness and acknowledge that He is God can be difficult sometimes if you do not have an intimate knowledge of who He is (Christ Identity) and who you are in Him (Christ Image).  When you come to a realisation of who Christ is through the power of the Holy Spirit and a reflection of who you are in Him then you will know within your heart that He is God over all your troubles.  My Journey so far has brought me to a place of stillness and finding complete rest in Him.  What a journey it has been, would I say I am fully there? But one thing I know is the more I hunger and thirst for His presence, love and to discover more of Him the more I keep wanting and longing for more.  If you have never been still to discover who God is and who are you in Christ Jesus, now is the time before it is too late.  Below are five strategies I have used to find peace and the soundness of mind in His presence.  It does not matter how dark my surrounding is, stormy and windy my challenges are, I will soar high above them and in the midst of darkness His light always shines.

Here are five ways  to Be still in the presence of God, to know that He is God and permit Him to work it out

  1. Time Out:   Intentionally dedicating a specific period of time, could be an hour or more depending on your engagements on regular basis to seek His face and dwell in His presence is  a way to build an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Take time out to be still in an environment of quietness and peacefulness.  Usually when I am home and want to take time out to receive from Him, I switch off all the phones, gadgets and TV to avoid any distractions.  Then I enter into a place of rest, peacefulness, clearing my mind off every clutters of thoughts that would hinder me from receiving His fullness of love, grace and peace. My time could be spent speaking to my Father, studying the word, listening to Christian music and hearing what He has to say over any situation that seems to be a burden, receiving instructions or guidance on the journey.
  2. Retreat: Going away from your noisy, busy environment that keeps you on your feet always is another way.  Find a Christian retreat, if your Church organises one endeavour to attend, this is always a period of  secluding yourself from the outside world and being in a place of intimacy with the Lord.  Usually retreats could last for two to three or more days and could be held individually as spirit lead or corporately (by Churches, Ministries or Organisations).  This is a time of refreshment, revival and restoration of the spirit, body and soul.  This is a time of discharging  every spiritual toxins and recharging your batteries.
  3. Stop and Pause: When you face challenges, during fierce storms of your life there is a tendency to take charge of situations, work it out independently without consulting God and for the fear of the unknown to grip you to the extent of loosing faith in God.   The Lord wants you to stop and pause, do not move or take any action, for this too shall pass, the storm is only for a season, it is not permanent.  Let God take control, hand the battle over to the Lord and let God be God.  When you pause (remain still) in the midst of it all, He speaks in a still small voice, listen to His words and act on it.   It takes the fruit of the spirit to remain in a position of waiting on the Lord, trusting Him at His words and perseverance.
  4. Renew your mind: You cant be at a place of rest and stillness if you mind is filled up with negatives, deadly thoughts or cluttered with every deceptive, depressive, downhearted thoughts.  Ask the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses and purifies to clear all those junks, clutters that has hindered you from receiving the fullness of His love and grace.
  5. Relax: Your spirit, body and soul needs to be at ease and in a peaceful restful position because it is impossible to be still if you are emotionally, mentally and spiritually tensed.  Chill out in the presence of the Lord and remain in His joy, peacefulness and soundness of mind.   I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! John 15:11 NLT

I pray that the Lord would bring you to a place of stillness, peacefulness, rest and soundness of mind.  He would reaffirm His words to you, over and over again until it is solidly rooted in your heart.  Lord, in the midst of the fierce storm, teach them how to soar with YOU above the storm and understand who You are on a deeper level of intimacy .  I pray that their mind would be renewed, their spirit, body and soul will be rejuvenated through the power of the Holy Spirit and by His grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah.  In Jesus name I pray Amen.

Sometimes the ups and downs of life can get in the way of your relationship with our Heavenly Father.  There is bills to pay, family responsibilities or emotional stress that tries to press you down.  The burdens you carry can become so heavy to the extent you feel like giving up on life or your mind becomes cluttered with resolutions to the problems you experience.  The Lord wants you to walk and work with Him and learn the unforced rhythm of His grace .  ‘Walk and work with Me’, ‘learn from Me’ and you will find rest.  His yoke is easy and His burdens are light, take His yoke and rest in Him.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Mathew 11:28-30 Message

On a regular basis, I reexamine myself  to check out where I am with my relationship with the Lord.  During these times I enquire of God with regards to my progress in my walk with Him.  You have searched me, Lord,   and you know me.  You know when I sit and when I rise;  you perceive my thoughts from afar.  You discern my going out and my lying down;  you are familiar with all my ways.  Psalm 139:1-3 NIV  Sometimes it seems like I am far away from Him and other times I feel so close but with the desire to get even closer to Him.  I find myself answering questions, ticking checkboxes of my strength areas and crossing out where I need to work on.  Today there are three questions thrown at you right below, search your hearts, test yourselves with the help of the Holy Spirit .

Do you have a relationship with the Lord?

Trials and tribulations can stand in the way of your relationship with the Lord.  Your eyes can be pinned unto the problems of life and forgetting the God we serve. You can be tired, worn out and burned out on religion that you don’t know what to do.  So if you do not have a relationship with the Lord, He is saying to you ” Come to Me, come to Me you broken one and I will give you rest.  Come to Me you burdened and heavy hearted one and I will make it easy and lighten your burden”.  The Lord wants you to start afresh, if you don’t have a relationship with Him and if you do have one, He wants you to be closer to Him

Have you found rest in Him?

Finding rest in Him is when your mind is renewed, your soul is refreshed, you are not worried about the present, past or future because you know that God will work it out (Psalm 47:10, Psalm 23:1-2).  Whatever happens you still trust God so nothing shall separate you from the love of God(Romans 8:35).  Finding rest is abiding in the secret place of the Most High..  You can only find rest in Him when you have an intimate relationship with God.  Knowing fully well that your can always go to Him and pour your heart out to Him, tell Him where it hurts and He brings healing and restoration.

How do you walk and work with God?

Your walk with the Lord is a journey and along the road He shows you His unforced rhythms of grace, for you can’t do it on your own.  His grace is sufficient to carry you through every challenge you experience.  So when it seems like there is no way and you have come to the end of the road, rest in Him and trust Him to see you through.  The road might seem so rough and bumpy but our Heavenly Father is there to walk with you, teach you the easy, light way and ability to live freely in abundance of His grace through Christ.  Its a process and you have a responsibility to play in working with God and He will work it out.  He will speak to you through the Holy Spirit to encourage, counsel, help and guide you.  You will listen to His voice and obey His instructions.

Lord I pray for those who passing through a difficult season that You will strengthen them and lighten their burdens, for Your yoke is easy and Your burdens are light.  Nothing is too difficult for You, I pray that You will give them peace that surpasses all understanding and they will find rest in You.  Lord let their walk with You be steady and easy, learning the unforced rhythm of grace.  In Jesus Name I pray Amen, Amen and Amen
