Reflections

This is the first month of the new year 2013, the Lord is doing great things in my life and I believe He is in yours too. Personally, Its a new season of new beginnings, moving a few steps forward not going back to the past and stepping up, for He is taking us to a new level.  “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.  19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV.

As you enter into the new, embrace all that the Lord has in store for you with a heart of gratefulness, faithfulness and peacefulness.  There is so much He wants to do in your life, only if you permit Him by total submission to His ways, will and purpose.  That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared     for those who love him.” 10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets 1 Corinthians 2:9=10 NLT .  Are you ready to walk with Him on the journey ahead?  Will you trust Him when He speaks to you? Is your heart opened to receive all that He has in store for you?

Its a new season, season of revival, rejuvenation, regrowth, blossom, fruitfulness and freshness.  This reminds me of  spring season , which takes place right after winter.  My beloved spoke, and said to me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. 11 For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. 12 The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.  13 The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell.  Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away! Song of Solomon 2:10-13 NKJV.

This is a reflection of what I perceive of the new season

Its a new season
Season of joy, Season of peace
Season of increase, Season of abundance
Season of new levels, Season of fresh anointing

The old is gone, the new is here
The past is over, its a new beginning
Time to move forward, keep pressing on
Time to step up, keep standing

Winter has gone, Spring is here
Come out and see the beauty of the day
The green trees and fresh ripe fruits
Reap the harvest of the new season

The time of singing and dancing is here
Sing let your voice be heard
Dance so the whole world would know
Come away with Me My beloved

The time is here, the time is now to do all that the Lord has called us to do, for many are called but few are chosen.  The Lord has given you  the boldness and strength to come out of your shell, come out of your hiding place and embrace the new season.  No more hiding because winter is over and spring is here.  The Lord is willing and ready to show you how and He wants you to come forward, in your vulnerability and stand out in the crowd. Though it might not be easy, let your sole confidence and dependence be in Him.

I pray that you will embrace the new in your life, forget the old and step into this new season of joy, peace and faithfulness in His love for you.  I pray that you will step out of your comfort zone and walk with the Lord on the journey ahead as He works it out.  I pray that He will strengthen you, equip and release you into all that He has called you to do. In Jesus Name amen.

I have taken some time out to reflect on His grace, goodness, mercies and faithfulness in my life as we approach the end of 2012.  Looking back into the past months  and being grateful to the Most High God for keeping me alive and healthy.  When life seemed so tough and tried to weigh me down, my Father walked with me through the fiery furnace, He kept me afloat in the river and through it all He has been with me  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you Isaiah 43:2 NKJV.

I do not know about you but this year moved so swiftly nevertheless you must appreciate God for all He has done in your life.  Many of us must have set goals at the beginning of year with the ultimate aim of achieving those set targets and some of them have still not been attained.  You must have been wondering what happened  and probably disappointed with yourself.  It is time to pause and reflect on the past months, how has your journey with the Lord been so far? Has all your request or secret petitions been granted?  Take time  to reflect in His presence ……..Selah.  His plans or your plans, His ways or your ways, His timings or your timings.  The Lord knows the end from the beginning of every matter or plan and He has made everything beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

One thing I have learnt to do better and still learning to perfect is to trust God in the midst of all  challenges.  Even when I do not understand the whys, what and hows.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV.  This is a key memory verse that has encouraged me to trust God for His directions especially during the stormy days.  There will always be challenging situations or difficult problems that never seems to go away  but the Lord always will see you through it all.  Proverbs 3:5-6 emphasizes on the three steps to take before He can direct your path:
  1. Trust Him wholeheartedly: This means there is no plan B, its the Lord’s wish all the the way.  Not following your ways but understanding the heart and mind of Christ in every situation.  What the word of God says in every situation and act on the word.
  2. Don’t try to figure it out:  Thinking unnecessarily and keeping your mind clouded with thoughts of solution instead of seeking His face for answers will lead you no where.  Renew your mind to the things of the Lord, keep your mind sound and eyes fixed on Him
  3. Acknowledge Him in all your doings: When He instructs, counsels or rebukes be obedient to His voice.  Listen and acknowledge Him in all you do.

Taking time out, away from life’s challenges, the busyness of life and being in a quiet place with the Lord to find rest, peace and be refreshed is a key part of your relationship with the Lord.  During those intimate moments  when He speaks, reminds you that He still loves you, He counsels and gives words of wisdom and knowledge.  Its a moment of Him pouring His love into your hearts, pulling you closer to Him as you cling to the Lord, the pillar that holds your life.  Its a time for  expressing yourself, where it hurts, and keeping it real in His presence like a daughter/ son to Father relationship.

If you have been on the go for most of the year, been so busy with life that you do not spend time to reflect with the Lord,  now is the time.  Now is the time go back to the Heavenly Father and retrace your steps from the beginning, starting afresh.  I pray that as you draw near to the Lord and  He will draw near to you, as you surrender and submit yourself to God, He will bring healing, restoration and make the path smooth for you in Jesus Name.  Amen

Without  the Word, life is meaningless because the Word is Christ. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was God, the Word became flesh and through Him all things were made (John 1). Studying and understanding the word of God is important in developing your relationship with God. You discover more of who you are in Christ and walk in the likeness of Christ.   Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 NKJV.  His words brightens every dark path in our lives and gives us wisdom, knowledge and direction to every circumstances.

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart  Hebrews 4:12 amp.

This is a reflection of  His Word in my life.  Pray that you will be inspired, encouraged and your spirits stirred up to know Him more and develop an intimate relationship with Christ.

Reflection of Your Word

Your Word is life that revives  my dry bones
Your Word is spirit that quickens my spirit
You Word is the  bread of life that  satisfies my soul

You are the Word that became flesh
Jesus is the Word
You were there from the beginning of creations

You are the living water that fills my cup up
You refresh my soul
Your words are inscribed in my heart
It searches every thoughts deep in my heart
Shaping me to bear more fruit

Your word is the lamp that shows me the path to take
You lead me in the path of righteousness
As You show me I walk in it
With Your rays of light I can see clearly
I shall fear no evil for Your namesake

After so much hesitation and deliberation, I have finally decided to take my practical driving test.  It has been a journey that started last year taking  driving  lessons and I am gradually growing in confidence driving independently. During my driving lessons while taking instructions from my instructor, I remembered my Heavenly Father and how He gives me instructions and directions to guide me towards the right path.  He Leads me in the path of righteousness as I walk in obedience listening to His instructions and corrections (Psalm 23:3).

The  journey so far has been quite challenging, sometimes I have asked myself if I really wanted to continue with the lessons especially when the public transport in London  runs an efficient and reliable service.  What encourages me to keep pressing on  in spite of it all is that the benefits outweighs the costs.  So I have set my mind on one thing and that is to pass my driving test.     The Lord reminded me of how He leads me along the  long narrow road and to trust Him in spite of it all.    I have made little mistakes here and there but thank God my driving instructor is there to correct me and guide me towards achieving my goal.  Here  are four key mistakes I made during my driving lessons and how it applied to my daily walk with the Lord:

  1. Not listening to instructions: When I started my driving lessons I found it difficult to listen to my driving instructor because I preferred to be in control of situations and  trusting his judgements was a big issue too.  In my relationship with the Lord, I realised that I needed the Lord to direct my path, every step of the way even when I did not understand the whys, what and when  but to trust Him in all that I do.  Trusting God requires listening to His instructions and being obedient to His voice.  Trust God from the bottom of your heart;  don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Proverbs 3:5-6 The Message.
  2. Not applying the right instructions: In this case, I listened to his instructions but still ended up doing my own thing, in other words I applied my  way of dealing with situation during my driving lessons.  During that period my instructor got really cross with me and re-emphasised that he would prefer if I did it his way and not my way.  I reflected on the number of times I made mistakes in my walk with the Lord, working it out in my own way and not His ways because I limited myself in the great things He had in store for me.  That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard,  and no mind has imagined what God has prepared  for those who love Him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT.
  3. Fear of the unknown: This has been a tough one for me because taking driving lessons means stepping out of my comfort zone, the older you become the more challenging it is.  When I drive along the road with my instructor being unaware of the events that occur or challenges I would face during my lessons scares me to bits.  When the Lord called me to step out of my comfort zone, I ran to a hiding place but He found me.  I have learnt to keep my eyes fixed on Him and not on the situation, trusting God to see me through.  He promises never to leave me nor forsake me
  4. Scared of large vehicles: This happens mainly during the peak hours when the road is busy and trucks passes by or there is a truck right behind me. My confidence goes down and the fear of the unknown creeps in. The Lord thought me to be confident of who I am in Him and He has not given me the spirit of fear but love because perfect love casts out all fear (Romans 8:14-16, 2 Timothy 1:7, Numbers 13:30-33).
One thing I know is to keep pressing on to what lies ahead and not to give up on God.   Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV.  There is a reward for those that persevere in the midst of it all.

One morning, I looked into the mirror and thought about the reflection of Christ love in me.  It is my utmost desire and passion to be a reflection of Christ  to those around me and  the world.  To see Christ transformed in me to the  fullness of His perfection.  Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear child. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT.  God created us in His image for His purpose on this earth, that His will be fulfilled in our lives (Genesis 1:27).

This is a reflection of Christ love,  from me to You Lord …………………………………….

When I look in the mirror
Your face is all I see in me
The reflection of Your love
The beauty of Your glory

I look in the mirror
I see You
You in me
How beautiful are You Lord
When You touch my face
The beauty of Your perfection
Your perfection in me

So amazed I am
By Your deep love for me
You love everything about me
The good and the bad

Who can compare to You
Who can match up to Your perfection
Who is greater than You
Who is more powerful than You

The devil sees You and  trembles at Your feet
The enemy hears your voice and they are crushed
All power belongs to You
All glory belongs to You

Now I know who I am in You
Because I have seen You
You in me
The reflection of Your love in me
The image of  Your character in me
Now I can step out in boldness
Because I have You in me
