Reflections

Thank you

It is so easy to let life pass by and forget every good reason to be grateful to God.  We can get so easily distracted by the challenges, circumstances and the main essence of living.  We can get entangled with the ups and downs,  distresses of life that appreciating God becomes a mere thing to us.  So I took time out to reflect on the seven reasons to be grateful to God.

#1 LIFE

I would like to appreciate God for being alive  as a living being not as a living doing or dead being.  Being who I am in Him not in my efforts but resting in Him in spirit and truth, permitting Him to take full control.   It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life John 6:63.

#2 NATURE

Have you ever walk along the road, in the fields or park with the aim of appreciating His beautiful nature created by Him and most importantly the air we breath.   I am really grateful to God for He is the air I breathe, His presence brings life to  me.  When the wind blows His spirit moves.   He has given us dominion and authority over the fish of the sea, birds of the air, the animals, over every creeping thing on earth and all the earth (Genesis 1:26).  It is a privilege to have full access to the earthly nature and enjoy life in abundance.

#3 FRIENDS, FAMILIES, LOVED ONES AND DESTINY HELPERS

Thank you Lord for bringing alongside my Husband, friends and families to love, support and encourage me.  Life without my loved ones is an aimless worthless one.  I appreciate you all for the Lord using you as an instrument to impact my life especially my loving Husband.  Moreover the people whom I call destiny helpers the Lord has connected me with that helped, guided and mentored me in fulfilling God’s purpose in my life, I would like to say a big thank you.  God has divinely orchestrated it all to fall into alignment with His plans and purposes

#4 HE IS MY PROVIDER

I cant take for granted the fact that He has been my provider from the beginning and will be to the end. My daily needs are catered for (Matthew 6:11).  Knowing that He has a storehouse of secret treasures waiting for me to walk into and possess with boldness and courage of who I am in Him.  It has already been made available so I thank You Heavenly Father for giving me divine access to all that I require and desire according to Your will.

#5 HE IS MY HIDING PLACE

When challenges or problems try to overwhelm me, I find refuge in Him.  Perfect peace, perfect rest is found in Him.  He is my hiding place, my place of refuge, place of rest and restoration in Him.  I have learnt to trust in Him even when my mind cant comprehend but my heart trusts in Him.  Thank You for being my hiding place during the storms of life.

#6 BECAUSE HE IS GOD

I cant complain because You are God, You are the first and the Last.  Everything works out for good because You love me and I am called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).  You called me Your beloved daughter in whom You are well pleased with.  I have a PHL degree (PRECIOUS HONORED LOVED) in You (Isaiah 43:4).  Therefore I am not afraid of who I am in You, THANK YOU JESUS

#7  I STILL STANDING

This year has been challenging for me with problems and circumstances being thrown at me everywhere nevertheless I am still standing.  You never gave up on me and You will never leave me nor forsake me.  These problems have tried to weigh me down but His yoke is easy and His burdens are light.  What a wonderful God He is, what a loving Father He is, I AM THANKFUL TO GOD

There is so much more to write about but these seven reasons to be grateful to God are a starting point,  They are endless, I can never stop thanking God for who He is,  all He has done and will do.  I keep my eyes fixed on Him not on my surroundings, my eyes are permanently set above not below, I look up to the sky and trust Him to see me through it all.

While at work listening to music, the song that drew my attention was Through it all by Andrae Crouch .  I took time out to reflect on the words of the song.  Asking myself questions of if I have been able to trust Jesus through all the trials and tribulations, ups and downs of life, when all around you are not working according to your intentional plans.  Could I really say through it all I have learnt to trust Him all the way?

Trusting God  during challenging times can be so difficult and frustrating because your mind cant seem to comprehend why you dont have a job yet when you are highly experienced in your field of  job application.  Or why your marriage is breaking down and the Lord says trust Me I can and will work it out.  Could it be that you have found yourself in a difficult dilemma that you cant seem to get out off.

With your mind you know what the Word of God states and with your heart you believe.   In my opinion trust has so much to do with the heart than the mind.  Because sometimes you might have a deeper understanding of the Word but do you believe without a doubt, beyond reasonable doubt that He is able and willing to see you through it all.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,  and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

God allows you to pass through lonely hours of trials and tribulations so you can learn to trust Jesus Christ all the way through till you receive your breakthrough and triumphant victory in Him.

It is time to thank God for those mountains and valleys that you have been passing through in the past and present.   Appreciate Him for walking with you through those mountains and teaching you to trust in Jesus.  As He teaches you through the power of the Holy Spirit, you learn to depend completely on His Word.

He never fails, He will never fail you so through it all can you learn to trust and believe in God ?  His Word remains the same yersterday, today and forever.   When He speaks it comes to pass.  Will you be patient through it all to see the end of the matter, for the end is better than the beginning.

What His Word means to me is all about appreciating God for being there for me despite all that is happening .  When you spend time in His presence studying the Word of God, you become refreshed, revived and renewed to keep pressing on forward despite all the challenges you face in life.    What does the His word mean to you?  I took time out to reflect on what His Word means to me.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart Hebrews 4:12

What His Word means to me

Your Word keeps me

 I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word Psalm 119:16.

When everything else fails

When all around me is sinking sand

Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope Psalm 119:49.

Your  Word is my only hope

Your Word upholds me, You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word Psalm 119:114.

Your Word is my very essence of living

For Your word has given me life Psalm 119:50b.

Your Word is my rock

Hold me up, and I shall be safe,

and I shall observe Your statutes continually Psalm 119:117.

I eat Your Word

How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!  Psalm 119:103

I drink Your Word

I sleep  with Your Word

I remember Your name in the night,

O Lord, and I keep Your law Psalm 119:55.

In my dreams Your Word is there

Forever, O Lord  Your word is settled in heaven Psalm 119:89.

I took time out to reflect on my walk with the Lord and realized that I honestly desire to walk closer with Him.  Not that I do not have a close relationship with the Lord but there is a stronger, deeper hunger and thirst for His presence.  A close heart to heart and knitted unity in the spirit  with the Lord is what I intimately long for.   There is a strong desire for a deeper walk with the Lord.   Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled Matthew 5:6.

I took stock of where I have been (past), where I am (present) and where I am going (future) being fully aware that I am on a journey.  For every journey there is a destination and it is the Lord’s desire to walk with us during the journey so that His purposes would be fulfilled in our lives.

A deeper walk with the Lord starts with a passionate desire of choosing to walk in obedience and total surrender to Him.  The deeper you walk with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit the more sacrifices you have to make to remain closely knitted to Him with the help of the Holy Spirit.   Draw near to God and He will draw near to you James 4:8a.  Draw nearer to Him and He would draw closer to you.

Moses had a deeper walk with the Lord.  The Lord spoke face to face to Moses (Exodus 33:11a).  Due to the children of Israelites disobedience, the Lord chose not to go with them to the promise land rather He promised to send His angel to drive out the Canaanites.   And I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 3 Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” Exodus 33:2-3

Moses was willing to surrender everything for the Lord to go with them to the promise land.   Moses interceded on behalf of the Israelites to find favour in His sight so that His presence would go with them (Exodus 33:13-14).  Moses desired strongly to know and understand the Lord’s way especially in the journey ahead.  For a deeper walk with the Lord, you need to understand His ways, His character and this can be achieved by intimacy with the Lord in prayers, meditating on the word, fellowshipping and worship.

And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14

When you walk with the Lord, He gives you rest, peace that surpasses all understanding and joy.  His presence shall always be with you, no matter what whether in the fiery furnace, or the stormy rain, He shall never leave you nor forsake you.

The Lord’s desire is for you to come closer to Him.  He longs for a deeper level of intimacy with Him.  He wants a closer proximity with   His beloved Sons and Daughters .  Moses, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up the mountain to experience Him.  And they saw the God of Israel.  And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. 11 But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank Exodus 24:10-11

Then the Lord said to Moses come up higher, as He wanted to reveal His plans, purposes and desires (Exodus 24:12).  The same way He called Moses to go up higher to the mountain, He longs for us to come closer to Him.  Moses went with Joshua his assistant  and he told the others to wait for them there until they came back while he went further up (Exodus 24: 13-15).

We can never get enough of His presence.  Moses went up further into the mountain  where it was only him and the Lord.  Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain Exodus 24:15.   The closer the walk with the Lord the more confident He is revealing His secret plans and His heart desires to us.

It is time to take a deeper closer walk with the Lord and permit Him to speak to you heart to heart, spirit to spirit in one accord.  It is a journey and you have to start somewhere.  Why don’t you start now to take little steps of faith, love and intimacy with the Lord.

Some of us are either waiting on the Lord for one thing or the other.  Sometimes it seems like there is no hope and all doors have been closed.  Probably it seems like God has turned deaf ears to our prayers and you wonder where is God in the midst of all your trials and tribulations.  Where was He when you cried out with tears dripping down from your eyes into your mouth and your makeup got messed up?  You lamented day after day and night after night  about that very thing that stole your rest and future hope of dreaming.

I am encouraging you  that you are not alone, God is with you and will always be with you till the end.  It is only temporary, therefore this too shall pass.  Jeremiah lamented also in the book of Lamentations about the present misery and former excellency of Jerusalem.  But in the midst of it all Jeremiah was able to find new hope in the the Lord and waited on Him.

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” 25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. 26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord Lamentations 3:22-26 NKJV

I reflect on this and while spending time in His presence, trusting in His faithfulness to come through for me.  I write

Lord you reward those who wait on You and seek You diligently

You are gracious and merciful to the righteous that can never be shaken

Lord I wait on You

Let not my wait be in vain

Open my eyes to see the good things You have in store for me

Yes Lord I wait patiently for You with high expectations

Meet me oh Lord at my point of need

Let not my wait be in vain.

I pray and hope that you have been touched and  blessed by these reflective words of encouragement to keep you standing, persevering for great is His faithfulness and His mercies endures forever.
